Downloaded Gimp Before?
Ended Up-Just Giving Up?
*Note: You may go through several windows trying to get to the
download. Currently, this is the link you want to end up on: http://sourceforge.net/project/...
You will see this dialog at the top of the page:
"Are you having problems with the download? Please use this direct link
or try another mirror."
Click on "direct link" and then choose run.
This should install GIMP on your computer and good luck!
GIMP is a very
powerful open source (free) photoeditor and graphics program on par
with photoshop which costs $300-400
What's Up
With The Gimp?
The GIMP (GNU
Image
Manipulation
Program)(GNU=GNU Not Unix)
is a very capable graphics editor that is open source and hence free.
You can do stunning Web 2 graphics, edit photos, add and rotate text,
animations, edit Photoshop PSD files, and so much more. For just about
anything you need to do, there is a free plug-in available to do it.
There are loads of fonts you can download and install.
However,
most people lose it when GIMP opens up into three windows across their
desktop. This is easier to adjust to if you are mentally prepared for
it. The
developers chose this form of the program due to the major memory
requirement necessary to combine everything into a conventional one
window program.
Next
problem is learning your way around the GIMP interface. Any program has
at least a little learning curve. Because the Gimp is so powerful and
can do so much there is just a lot to absorb when you're just getting
started. How do you use the five primary brush tools to enhance your
images? How do you work with masks, script-fu, or psd files. Or how can
you clone, flip vertically, smudge, shear, or add a
background to your text for depth? Well, an excellent learning tool to
accomplish this would be a 27 lesson video tutorial course on your
desktop that
you could reference anytime you needed.
